在这样忙忙碌碌的生活中，已经很少有人会知道还有这样一个山村，整个村子只有几十个村民，在城市里死了人，都是必须火化的，这个村子却一直保持着土葬的老办法，张大家的大儿子，前些日子去塘里游泳淹死了，家人悲痛欲绝，葬礼那天，村上很多人都来了，也有部分看热闹的，毕竟这个小村落，谁家有点事，整个村子都能知道，村民都觉得奇怪的是，一般都说淹死的人脸色发紫，肚皮鼓起来，可是这大儿子树根却是看起来很平静，就像是睡着了一样的。
一家人都很悲伤，唯独张大的小儿子柱子表情很冷淡，就像在看一场戏一样，没有人注意到，柱子居然阴险的笑了一下，按说人死了应该三天之后下葬，可是树根却在当天就被下葬了。

当晚狂风暴雨，电闪雷鸣，不知为什么，家家的牲畜都叫的很凄惨，村上人都胆小，没有人敢出来看，都躲在被子里。
柱子在屋里颤抖着，手里紧紧的抓着被子，柱子的老婆更是怕的不敢露头。

第二天，的事情就发生了，村上的家畜死了一半，场面惨不忍睹，鸡的头被活活咬掉，血也吸了个干，二根家最凶的那只狗居然被剥了皮，就剩着组织和骨头以及一地的血。
全村人都怕了，树根这死的头一天就发生这些个事情，所有人都躲着张大一家人，张大也很费解，就提出去坟地看看，这时候，柱子冲出来说出事了，一家人连忙跑到后院柱子的房间，一进门，全家人都傻眼了，柱子的媳妇仰面躺在床上，腰部被割开了个大口子，还在往外冒血，眼睛瞪的圆圆的，倒像是被活活吓死的。
柱子疯了一样的大叫着：“我错了，我错了，不要杀我，我错了。

晚上，张大怕小儿子乱跑惹出祸端，就把他锁在了后院的小屋里，柱子两眼瞪的圆圆的，不敢闭上，生怕一睁眼看见不想看见的东西，越是这么想，柱子越是害怕，他紧紧贴着墙壁，总觉得耳边有人在咬他，袭击着这个疯了的柱子，屋里漆黑的，柱子突然发疯一样撞门：“放我出去，放我出去！！！他来了他来了！！！救命救命！”张大一家出去了，任凭柱子再喊叫都没有人，当张大回来的时候，已经是中午了，想着赶紧给儿子送点吃的进去，没想一推开后院小屋的门，眼前的一切让张大的媳妇一下子晕过去了。

地上全是血，柱子躺在水缸边，腰部一样有个很长的刀口，柱子还活着，一边抽搐，一边念叨：“他来了。

”村上医生赶到的时候，柱子已经咽气了。

事情很快传了出去，有人说是柱子做了坏事。

张大两天之内失去两个儿子 一个媳妇，怎么也想不通自己做了什么事情要遭这个报应，这时候树根媳妇提出想去山上看看树根的坟，发生这么多事，就是在树根下葬那天发生的，一定有关系，于是一家人约好了上山挖坟。

到了山上，全家一起挖起了树根的坟，当打开棺材时，树根母亲号啕大哭，只见棺材内壁全是指甲印子，树根的两只手抓着脖子，痛苦的睁大着眼睛，看样子是活活憋死的，嘴里还含着什么，突然从树根嘴里吐出了两个肾。

再一看，树根的腰部居然有个大口子，村上医生来看了尸体，告诉了张大，树根的肾没了。
张大一拍手，一切明白了！

原来是柱子，柱子前些天问张大这个肾听说能卖不少钱，想搞些钱置办个新房子。
于是柱子两口子就商量打起了平时有些痴呆的树根的注意，一个痴呆，又不会干活，让他做点贡献，（没有文化知识，他不知道没有肾会活不了）柱子媳妇给树根的饭里下了药，树根昏了过去，然后两人就拿菜刀把树根的肚子刨开了，取出了所谓的肾，树根忽然疼醒了，大叫起来，柱子就赶紧的拿枕头把树根捂起来，树根不动了，柱子夫妻以为他死了，就把树根偷偷拖到了池塘边，把衣服换好，伤口用衣服线封了起来，就骗了张大说树根游泳淹死了。
在葬礼那天，柱子无意发现树根的手指头动了一下，知道他没死，于是就赶紧催促家人尽快下葬。
谁料树根在棺材里醒了，但却再也出不来，活活在土里憋死了。

村里又恢复了平静，直到有一天，张大睡醒，发现柱子一手拎着一个肾，一边笑一边吐血，脸色惨白，啊啊啊啊啊，张大死了，死因不明。
却少了一颗肾，随后，张大的老婆，树根的老婆全部死了，表情狰狞，也都少了一颗肾，但却都像是被吓死的！

窗外风雨交加，柱子和邻村的红姐两人喝着小酒，望着桌上的一大把钞票，肆无忌惮的大笑：“哈哈哈哈，一群傻子，这个世界上哪来的鬼，都他妈骗人的！！”说着，柱子突然停止了笑声，看向门口，红姐顺着方向看过去，五个身影出现了，张大，张大媳妇，柱子媳妇，树根，树根媳妇：“你看有没有！”只听见风雨交加的夜里又多了两声惨叫。
